A partnership project between Romford BID and Things Made Public CIC, 'Romford Pocket Parks' is an exciting new initiative, designed to improve our public spaces, bringing colour and vibrancy to the high street whilst shining a spotlight on our local businesses and encouraging footfall and dwell time in Romford Town Centre.
Funded by Romford BID, the Mayor of London’s ‘Make London’ initiative and local crowdfunding, Romford Pocket Parks is underpinned by a co-design approach.
Each green installation has been co-created with the community, who have been directing the design of the pocket parks via a range of creative workshops, which to date have engaged over 200 local residents and businesses.
Designed by Wayward, The Romford Pocket Parks were installed over April 2022, where we were joined by a number of local volunteers, who gave a much-needed hand in getting the sites ready for public use.
The pocket parks can be found throughout the town centre at Brookside Theatre, Ciao Bella, Brewery Shopping Centre, Aklu Plaza, Romford Shopping Hall, North Street and Romford Station.
Romford Pocket Parks launched on 18th June with some workshops, face painting and live entertainment and are now available for all to enjoy around the town. We also released a Trail Map which can be downloaded where you can find out more about the project and see other businesses who are working towards being greener in Romford.
