Diljeet Chana, Pharmacist & Store Manager, Boots, The Brewery

Boots is the UK’s leading pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer. Found in almost all UK towns it is the people behind these stores that make them local. Diljeet was nominated for being the cornerstone of Boots in Romford. He is well known and widely respected by his patients and customers for always putting his patrons needs first whilst doing all he can to ensure the stores general well-being.

“Diljeet is well known and widely respected by his customers and patients alike”

We asked Diljeet a few questions about his days working and living in Romford. Diljeet has worked at Boots since 1996 and is currently the Pharmacist and Store manager of the branch situated in The Brewery shopping centre. His role is to ensure the daily activities are up to date and that trained staff are available consistently from 8am until midnight and that all pharmacists and healthcare staff are fully trained to deal with customers. When we asked Diljeet what makes Romford a great place to work, he told us “Romford is a busy town centre and we serve a large variety of people from babies all the way to the elderly. As it an affluent neighbourhood we also have available a large variety of health and beauty products”

Diljeet has been back in Romford for the past 5 years, however he was brought up the town and went to the local schools so what Romford means to him is by his returning he is giving back to the community. His favourite places to relax in town are The Vue cinema complex and the ice skating rink with his children. We asked Diljeet about his fondest memory of Romford and he replied “Remembering how Romford used to be when I was young. Such as the water fountain in the Liberty shopping centre. We then asked how has his job in Romford connected him to the rest of the community and he told us that he sees lots of people from his past, such as friends and their parents as well as teachers from his youth years”

When asked how it felt to be nominated, Diljeet told us “It’s always a great pleasure to be nominated by a stranger, especially as I wasn’t expecting any nominations. As to me it’s the day job and nothing special” Throughout March we will be celebrating Diljeet as the town’s hero and as such we asked him what the special promotions are in-store this month “As a company there are always bi- monthly offers the company does, such as buy one get one free, etc. The next big event for March will be Mothers day (Sunday 22nd), where we will have great offers on fragrance and lots of fantastic health and beauty gift sets such as No7 at great prices.

And finally, we asked Diljeet what he considers to be Romford’s best keep secret “We have a museum that I was never aware of near the old brewery”
